JEFFREY FINCH
RESTORATION CARPENTER
Jeff Finch has worked with the National Park Service, Architectural
Preservation Division as a Preservation Specialist for the past five
years. He now divides his time between the Park Service and his own
preservation consulting firm, Heritage Restoration Services. For eighteen
years prior to that, he specialized in restoration carpentry working
on a wide variety of projects. He has lectured and led workshops for
many groups interested in preserving historic architecture.
Areas of special interest to Mr. Finch include repair and replication
of decorative wood trim; documentation and restoration of decorative
finishes and color schemes; disassembly and rebuilding of historic structures
being moved; application of new technology to historic buildings to
affect energy conservation.
One example of his many projects is the conservation and reconstruction
of buildings at the Swamp Locks Dam in Lowell, MA. Work included research,
design and procurement of custom and specialty materials, conservation
and reproduction of original windows, color research, and wood trim
conservation among other things.
